​If there is one pet peeve I have, it is people who are trigger snobs. These are the people that will refuse to shoot a stock firearm and will critique anything that has a trigger pull over 3 pounds. If the trigger pull is not dangerously short and light, it is dangerously long and heavy in their opinion. Unfortunately, a lot of impressionable newbies to the shooting community tend to get drawn into what these snobs say and feel that the pinnacle of skill and competence revolves around being picky. However, in my years of shooting with and against these types of people, I have found that trigger snobbery is merely a symptom of problems and failures in skill. This article is going to examine a couple of the failures trigger snobs have. This article may hurt a few feelings, but it is all in pursuit of the truth. It is time that trigger snobs get called out for the frauds they really are.

I will just say right away that the double action/single action, or DA/SA is my favorite trigger system to work with all around. I feel that this trigger system offers more to all users than any other system. No trigger system is going to be perfect, but this system comes pretty close for me. After learning how to use it and practicing a bit, the DA/SA became my favorite.

The double action trigger, or simply DAO, has a long history in all types of pistols and revolvers. The concept is still technically seen in many different pistol designs that people trust and love, like Glock. In my experience, the hammer fired variants of the DAO are misunderstood and simply damned due to inexperience and ignorance. The illusion of the DAO being harder to learn means it must have no use in today's world of instant gratification. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I would have to say that the DAO has become one of my favorite trigger designs for carry after lots of training and pushing myself.

The gun market today, whether in sales or training, is concentrated away from the traditional DA/SA design. But is the design DEAD just because it is not as popular? I think we can answer that by evaluating something that I would consider to be the source of misunderstanding that the DA/SA pistol suffers from. It may not be the most popular action on the market today, but I personally have found that the rewards outweigh the few disadvantages.
