The search for a good CLP that makes cleaning safe and easy has been my goal for a while now. I have been through cheap and expensive products that all promise to perform the best. Most of the time these products do perform, but only with repeated usage and adequate time. Fubar CLP is a bit different than any other product on the market because it is not just for use on guns. It can be used as an insect repellent, a light sunscreen, a mild antiseptic, and even a moisturizer. Surprisingly, the product performs very well as a gun cleaner and lubricant. It is not easily overwhelmed and overcome by fouling. Plus, the lemon Pledge scent is a nice touch. When you look at the market today, it is becoming more and more popular for people to go for chemical CLPs that are effective, edible, environmentally friendly, odorless or pleasant smelling, and all natural. Fubar CLP is a bit extreme in all those senses. The primary chemical for this product is natural oils you might expect to see in cooking. Coconut, Avocado, Raspberry, etc. This doesn't necessarily mean that you can just save money by globing on coconut oil and Avocado oil. The ingredients are balanced and mixed to a specific ratio in order to give it a specific operating performance, not only in guns but in everyday uses as they claim. Now let us cover the operating performance of this product. I will first start out by saying that the product was only tested to this point with pistols. I lubed the action, the bore, breach face, and crown. I found that these places are typically more fouled and much harder to clean. From there, I shot over 200 rounds through the pistols each and then let it cool somewhat before doing an initial wipedown. Upon performing the wipedown every time, I found that the bore and every other spot of heavy fouling came out with little to no effort. This shocked me, since I expected this product to perform poorly overall. That may be harsh to say, but I had tested so many supposed miracle all natural products that flopped just after the first try. So yeah, I had some preconceived notions and expectations. Since I have yet to test this product on my Steyr AUG or my wifes' AR or AK, I have to reserve complete judgement as far as this product being a universal performer. All I know is that at this point, it performs perfectly on pistols. If it performs well with rifles, I think I will be incredibly surprised. I never found that this product needed to act as a CLEANER because it prevented the fouling from even sticking. So, I guess I will have to check that out as well. One thing I noticed about this product is that it thickens up in cooler whether. I don't know how well this would serve in negative temperatures, but I am going to see next winter. Apparently, according to my friend that turned me on to this product, it solidifies in order to keep the product from migrating. When you fire, or add friction, it loosens up easily. But when you have to get some from the bottle, you might wanna make sure your body heat is keeping it in liquid form. As far as an explanation for why the product solidifies and handles the high heat, the oils used can tell the tale pretty well. The main ingredient, coconut oil, has a reputation of solidifying, even at about 40 degrees. Though, it also has a generous tolerance to heat before it starts breaking down chemically and it also is a good moisturizer. The next ingredient, Avocado oil, is known for having an incredibly high tolerance to heat and cold. It is rated as the best high temperature cooking oil on the market for this reason. Carrot oil seems to be the additive that gives this product the mild antiseptic quality. The Raspberry oil gives the product mild UV protection, though only minor. Also, the product uses citronella oil that is commonly used as an insect repellant. When mixing these oils together, you might want to realize that it isn't easy to mix essential oils together without compromising the capabilities of all the oils together. Since I used this product mostly in the winter, I can only attest to the capabilities of the CLP and moisturizer functions. Definitely a good treatment for dry skin. Overall, I have enjoyed the capabilities of this product. It has performed incredibly in comparison to other chemical and synthetic based CLP products. Amazing how this little known product is such a good performer. Despite the fact that it is going to solidify at lower temperatures, I feel that this is a grade A product. Who wouldn't want a product that can do a little bit of everything? I don't know about you, but I sure will take a product like this. $20 for 3.3 ounces of product that I don't need to use too much of is not that big of an investment. A little bit of this stuff will go a long way for you. Check it out and see for yourself. If interested, use the code DOITRITE10 for 10% off your first order.
