I do not entertain the idea of prepping or militias with too much frequency for a very specific reason; I do not have much stock in either. The two seem to be activities rather than a mindset and these organizations forming militias tend to be populated by people who have ideas not based in reality. I feel that the current state of the militia movement is more toxic than it is organized and useful. In my quick evaluation of militia groups around the country, I find that they are populated by people that have either a military past or have this idea that they could be some kind of hardcore hero with a gun. I find this mindset to be toxic at best. Real quick, I would like to evaluate the point of militias. The idea behind a militia force is a supplement or an augmentation to military might. A form of resistance to tyranny or invasion. The best example of this type of formation, the response to the British rule in the colonies, is not even a valid example, though many would claim it to be so. The truth of the uprising of the colonies was local towns taking it upon themselves to use arms to resist the British military. This was done hastily, and with little organization. The bands of civilians making up these resistance fighters were labelled as militia. Though, the standards we have today are alot different than what you would see back in those times. The average fighter was unskilled in soldiering, scared easily, was undisciplined, but could shoot a rifle somewhat competently. Though, on the battlefield, militia got their asses chewed up and spit out when they lined up against the skilled and disciplined red coats. Upon the founding of our country, after winning our conflict against the British occupation, it was established that an organized militia was essential to the survival of our country. Also, this was supposed to be a method to safeguard our country from experiencing tyranny at the hands of our government. Militia are supposed to act as a military-esque resistance force. Funny how we are experiencing tyranny through gun bans and seizures, and yet people blindly follow this corrupt system with the idea that it makes them honorable and patriotic. Foolish to be voluntarily blind to this corruption, if you ask me. Now that we have briefly covered the history of militias, let us evaluate our current generation of militia. They are out of shape, glory seeking, tacticool wannabes that have this illusion that they are going to be useful or honored by the government in times of need. The problem with that is that they try to run their group like a military and not a resistance movement. I would say that in concentrating on weapons and military tactics, they end up being more untrained than one may think. They seem to miss out on training for certain things like covert surveillance, intel gathering, sabotage, infiltration prevention, etc. Though militias are supposedly defined as a military-like organization, a civilian resistance or militia will last longer and be more effective if it changed the way it functioned. In my opinion, I would set up groups that are concentrated on specific tasks such as General leadership, intelligence and surveillance, kinetic fighting, logistics, medical, and keep the groups talking to each other. But, communication should only be through a single representative in each team, to protect the identification of the others. You can't extract information from a prisoner or detainee if there is no knowledge to be had. the only group that can be known is the command and leadership. But these individuals should not be known by their real names. What I am talking about here is a true underground resistance cell that can do more damage, for longer, instead of just wearing multicam and fighting like a bunch of cannon fodder on a grass field. Alot of the lessons for this kind of resistance can be learned from the French Resistance of WW2. Yes, the French sure knew how to savagely fight and get back at the enemy. The Nazis made it easy with their ruthless treatment of civilians. Building a resistance cell is time consuming, but beneficial. It requires secrecy and cunning. Anyone can pull a trigger and chase glory on a battlefield. But it takes a special set of individuals to be thinkers, be cunning, and to be forward thinking. This is my definition of a true militia and resistance. When you outgunned and outmanned, you have to be smart and be able to strike out of the crowd and disappear back into the crowd all at once. Without this capability, you are just racing to fill a body bag if true resistance against tyranny or occupation should ever become a reality.
