SAR9 Modularity Potential

The SAR9 is a new pistol that is being imported by SAR USA. The pistol was supposed to be an overkill competitor to the Glock 17. This came about because the government of Turkey was offended that the Turkish military was considering Glock pistols over the domestic offerings available to them. Turkey as a whole is typically very prideful, as they should be. They take things very seriously and personally if someone is not pleased with a product. The pride that Turkish manufacturers have in their products goes back many generations and they have a sense of honoring the reputation of themselves, their families, and their culture.I respect that level of dedication to quality.
The firearm manufacturers in Turkey are not without their own set of flaws, though. Their country has a strict restriction on civilian firearm ownership, so they do not typically get much experience on what people may need or want in a firearm if they intend to carry one for self defense. Most of the firearms produced are intended to satisfy military and law enforcement needs, but also satisfy civilian needs abroad. As far as I know, there are very few pistols made for concealed carry by the Turkish manufacturers.
That is not to say that companies do not have a few pistols to offer the world market, but in general, you are not going to see many good options in the realm of single stack pistols or really deep concealment options. This could have to do with the fact that most countries have restrictions on certain pistols that are too small, and they figure it is best to manufacture pistols that can satisfy as many potential buyers as possible.
With all that said, you mostly see that Turkey produces pistols that are made to satisfy military and law enforcement standards. They do this by running the pistols through their own unofficial version of NATO testing. This is cool that they do this type of thing, but they have never really competed in official military NATO trials...until recently. The SAR9 was specifically designed to compete and exceed the performance of other pistols in NATO trials.
The reports on the trials have yet to be released, but the SAR9 was supposedly awarded an NSN from the tests and it is boasted that their pistol withstood 90,000 rounds in a burnout test to see where the pistol would actually fail at. If this is true, this pistol is the toughest and most reliable pistol I know of. And, if this claim turns out to be true, I think that this pistol may change the mind of people who think the pistols made in turkey are not made to seriously compete with other popular pistols.
As far as the SAR9 is concerned, you will notice that the entire frame of the SAR9 is removable and every component can be replaced with ease. The fame components are surrounded and held together by a grip module that pinches the components securely in place.

I assume this modularity and the individual component design is part of the reason that this pistol is capable of going a long time without having components break down and fail. Typically if you separate the components and beef them up individually, you can squeeze better durability out of them.
One other thing that this kind of design allows is complete modularity. Theoretically, being able to remove the internal components with ease and in one piece, allows the pistol to be converted to different sizes and layouts. To me, this is a capability they should take advantage of, in my opinion. The new thing today is to be able to have options and go to different capabilities without having to retrain of change your weapons too much. I just hope that Sarsilmaz realizes this and also gives us the benefit of this realization.
