I know I have earned a little reputation for be a Glock hater or basher. I guess it is somewhat earned, but the reason for my past protests was based on experience. Now it is about time that I get back in the Glock game and record my experiences. Its time that I prove or disprove my own claims and fears on video and here on my blog with a record of this pistols performance. Years ago I bought into the Glock hype and got a series of Glocks. I had bad results with almost all of them that I owned except for the Model 30SF and 21 Gen4. After having a series of disturbing experiences with about 10 different Glocks in both the 3rd and 4th generations, it left a terrible taste in my mouth. On the other hand I've watched individuals have failures of all types, but happily chalk it up to weather, ammo, and even the ALL MIGHTYS' WILL (I am not even joking) to excuse the issue. It can rattle your brain to watch someone praise a gun for having total reliability after that same gun failed to function on multiple occasions with factory ammunition. This kind of behavior is one step short of talking to an invisible friend while fondling yourself in public, in my opinion. So very briefly, I want to talk about my testing and how it is going to be conducted. I am going to use this pistol exclusively until such time that I feel I have generated results worthy of discontinuing testing. This pistol will be used for everything I would use a pistol for from home defense, carry, LARPing, demonstrations, classes, etc. This is a big commitment since I normally bounce from gun to gun with great regularity. Some things I am expecting to see are things I have experienced in the past to include pins walking out, failures to feed certain ammunition, early extractor spring failures, and light primer strikes. These are just some of the things I have experienced, but I do not expect that I will encounter issues like an out-of-battery detonation or slide failures. I have witnessed them, but I don't think I will experience it unless I get well above 40k-50k, which will be an expensive task. The only modifications I will be doing to this pistol is upgrading to steel factory sights and acquiring a couple of ETS magazines for testing. Down the road I may branch out to other items such as sights and certain spring systems, but I am not into condoning modifications prior to mastery of the stock firearm. After handling most of the other guns on the market, I feel that a stock Glock trigger is already light and smooth compared to my beloved DA/SA triggers. So that is what you can look forward to on here for the time being. Strictly .40 S&W, strictly Glock 23 Gen4. What do you think will happen?
