In my opinion, Original Vietnam Tiger Stripe from Tiger Stripe Products is one of the sexiest and most badass patterns of camouflage you can get. However, I recognize this as being an emotional attraction. This attraction does not necessarily make it a practical camouflage for every environment I find myself in. Being a camouflage pattern that has interested me for a long time, I thought I would look into it in greater detail.
An Observation Post (OP) is set up for a number of reasons. It is important for anyone in the military to understand what will be expected of them when setting up an OP. This requires alot of discipline, good attention to detail, and dedication. The teams will most likely be really small in order to keep a low profile. However, if compromised, you will have to be skilled in defending yourselves and evading capture. With all that said, let's get into it.
When you are tasked with a long range operation that will require you to be out for a long period of time, it will be important to select your gear wisely. This is to save space and weight. I feel that alot of people in militias have a bit of a misunderstanding of what is required or helpful in order to be successful in these types of operations, whether it be because of a lack of experience or poor leadership and guidance.
Most of the comments on this blog have been people asking about my YouTube channel. Well I have had to rebuild it due to it getting deleted. My ex wife was very bitter in the beginning of the divorce and showed it in many spiteful acts. But she topped herself by hacking into my account and deleting my channel and everything to included saved google files that I was paying to have stored. So yeah, it was a bit of a shock, but I am a bit too resilient to let that affect me. Yes I lost the ad income from it, but I am rebuilding and I am starting new with a few new goals. It sucks that I lost that income and the 10k subscribers that I had, but I am confident that I will be back where I was in no time. This is a hobby for me and I do it when I am able. I enjoy what I do and I like teaching, learning, and sharing accurate knowledge and little details that make all the difference. Thank you all who have stood by me through the past couple of years. Go subscribe to my new channel (doitriteak) if you haven't already. Don't forget to like my videos and also leave a comment.
Let's face it, if you are in a militia, you probably have an agenda or think you are some badass who is ready to fight and be heroic. Kinda sad to see the group of jokers that makeup these clusterfuck groups. Half of the people I see in these groups are so old or out of shape that going from prone to standing would be measured with a calendar. They lack training and are not diligent in consistent practical practice. They have zero consistency of camouflage that works in their own environment. Not that everyone needs to wear the same thing, but stop wearing that gray ACU crap. You look like a dumb ass wannabe. Granted there are some groups that are relatively squared away, but I don't think many of these groups know what they are really doing, or they lack good leadership and experienced members that have done more than LARP (Live Action Role Play). Rant aside, I wanna talk about the role of militias in a time where they would actually be useful. Truly organized and state sanctioned militias may indeed be mobilized in certain cases, and have at least here in Alaska. However, in this article, I want to cover a mission that a militia may be suited for in the sense that they are generally considered expendable. The fact that they can fill roles such as casualty transport, humanitarian jargon, and limited reconnaissance missions would free up special mission units to do more important missions. The subject I am going to cover in this article is going to be how militias can be used for a LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) and an OP (Observation Post).
Typically, when you say to someone that you still use the IIFS or LBV88 Enhanced instead of the newer modular MOLLE gear, you will get a look like you are out of your mind. Apparently using this older load bearing gear never did anyone any good in history. Everyone can have their opinions of course, and in this article, I intend to clarify mine. My opinion is going to be based on my experiences, training, needs, etc. Just keep that in mind before passing harsh judgement and drawing conclusions about why I do or don't care for certain things. My comparison will be against the MOLLE version of the IIFS, which is the current military issue MOLLE LBV like the one I was issued.
The center axis relock is a style of shooting that has been around for a good long while, but has become more noticed as of late, thanks to the John Wick series of movies. I do not think that it is a bad thing to have this semi-mysterious and showy style presented on film. However, I think that people might be interested to learn a little bit about the style and how it was intended to be used. In addition, I would like to cover my own observations about the John Wick style of using this style for offensive close quarters engagements.
