Aside from the dramatic claims that seem to get recycled by the military about how unreliable and dangerous the Beretta handguns are, I think Beretta has done a fine job on all their firearms. The PX4 family of handguns by Beretta is one of the newest sets of pistols to join my collection. The full size model has seen a couple thousand rounds through it, and has performed admireably. I find this family of pistols to be very easy to use, yet very rugged.
THe PX4 compact is a different concept from either the full size model and the subcompact. It features ambidextrous slide releases, and lower profile controls overall in comparison to what you would find on the full sized model. Another thing that is different is the fact that the recoil spring system is similar to the full sized model with the locking block that rotates the barrel, but that is about it. The pistol uses a double captive recoil spring which resembles the full size model. The other difference with this pistol is how its locking block hosts a polymer extension, which I am sure is designed to provide added frame support and lower the felt recoil overall. And let me tell you, this gun has such smooth recoil. I really love how soft and smooth the PX4 line of pistols are to shoot.
But all in all, I am very excited about this pistol. I love the PX4 line of pistols and I had been looking at one of these for quite some time. I am glad I finally came around to getting this beauty.
