It should be no surprise by now that I am a big fan of CZ. Not to say that I think all of their designs are spot on to what I like, but the general focus that they have on their designs is what I find attractive.
The first CZ I ever shot was the CZ P-07. The pistol, to this day, seems to perform perfectly in my hands. Every time I think that I may have found a better pistol in the same size class, I find that the improvement is only marginal. The reputation is based off years with LEOs, the pistol comes with more magazines, or the action is designed to make recoil lower. Whatever the difference, I find that the CZ P-07 often still performs just fine in my hands and is still at the top of my list as far as performance is concerned.
As I said before, not everything is perfect about CZ, and especially the P-07. I have had my share of issues such as a broken trigger return spring, loose sights, and now I am having an issue with a heavily worn sear spring. But all this has occurred in a relatively short amount of time within 2,000 rounds. Springs are some of the hardest things to get right on almost any design. That said, this failure is inexcusable and does place this pistol outside of the realm of SUPER RELIABLE for me. I cannot say that I trust this pistol completely until I replace the sear spring, which will happen in the near future. The trigger spring replacement has gracefully lasted over 8,000 rounds since the stock spring broke around 1,500 rounds. That said, I would feel better having the trigger return spring replaced every 5,000 rounds or so once it breaks the 10,000 round mark.
The good news is that practically every component of the pistol is sold by CZ themselves. I am not a fan of the prices or the fact that they wont just send a replacement sear spring, but at least I don't have to send the pistol back to get it done. The Omega trigger design of the P-07 makes this pistol a relative breeze to work on if you are into maintaining your own guns.

When I first started using the P-07, it seemed to me like I had uncovered the perfect pistol. In alot of ways, this pistol handles and responds like a high end pistol but at a fraction of the price. The sights hit right on, the grip is perfectly aggressive, and the pistol overall functions smoothly. This list of characteristics led me to feel that I had been shallow for not having tried CZ before. But, as I saw it, I should start looking into more CZ designs to see if there is anything else I have been missing. I just felt that there may be another CZ that would perform a little better. After much research and deliberate debate, I am having a hard time justifying getting another pistol that has not been tested and may in fact just not work that well for me.
In my opinion, the CZ P-07 is a game changer for the double action carry market. It is a great size, has good capacity, easy controls, low recoil, and a generally good trigger for the trigger snobs out there. The pistol just feels like it was built to fight with when you handle it. It stays tight in your hands, points naturally, is easy to manipulate, and is easy to shoot trigger and recoilwise. With a price of less than $500, who could say no to such a fine piece of hardware?
